We are excited to welcome you to India for your upcoming business conference with JoyCorps in Dehradun. Our team would like to welcome you on the 2nd and 3rd of November to participate in our pre-Summit Event. This is curated for our guests who are visiting India for the first time or have traveled internationally to give you a brief overview of Indian culture, norms, and what to expect during your time with us.

Arrival and Orientation:

Arrive Early: Your arrival on November 2 will enable you to adjust to the time zone and environment, allowing you to fully engage with the group and the conference activities.

Orientation Session: On November 3,  you will participate in an in-person orientation covering:

    • JoyCorps’ Work in India: An overview of our mission and activities.

    • Venue Details: Information about accommodation, the summit location, and facilities.

    • Food: An introduction to local cuisine and dining arrangements.

    • Schedule: Details on visits, leisure activities, and the overall agenda.

    • Transport: Guidance on getting around and local transportation options.

    • Shopping and Markets: Recommendations for local shopping and markets.

Cultural Sensitivity:

Since understanding and respecting local customs is key, we have organized a brief session on cultural norms. Some of the things we will talk about include:

  • Reserved Behavior: Be mindful of personal space and reserved interactions.

  • Touch and Personal Space: Respect local customs regarding physical contact and proximity.

  • Clothing: Dress modestly and appropriately for the setting.

  • Feet: Avoid touching people or objects with your feet, as feet are considered unclean.

  • Stares: Staring is common and not meant to be disrespectful.

  • Respect for Elders: Show deference to elders and those in positions of authority.
